Break from the Jungle

Hi everyone. I am just getting a chance to get out of the jungle over the past two weeks and let me tell you, it is nothing like is expected! The work is hard and long like I thought, but the peace that comes with the jungle is amazing. I have spent sun up to sun down catching birds almost everyday and I am loving the hummingbird species I am seeing.  I wish I could show you some pictures but I am using internet at a cafe so there are no ports for my picture card. Sorry about that! But let me just say that it is amazing. There is so much green everywhere and the people are very nice. Eating has been interesting and I have learned my limit on the things I am willing to eat that grow mold on them, if you get my drift. Chocolate has been a lifesaver of course, along with the pound of PB I brought with me, but I will soon run out, which sucks! Oh to have no PB when you are home sick!

Hopefully I will have some pictures for you soon but for now just imagine lots of green leaves and trees, colorful birds by the hundreds, and monkeys that like to break open our food chests and steal all our bread and oatmeal.  Oh, and crap on everything in sight. Monkeys are not as cute as you think.

Until next time!

I’m glad things are working out for you (minus running out of PB) and can’t wait to see pics. Even if the workdays are long, it doesn’t seem like it when your work’s fulfilling and you enjoy it. Thanks for updating us!

One thing I really love about travel is that it just resets your way of thinking-good food changes from xyz at home to “not TOO moldy” in the field.
I hope you find more peanut butter. I never realized that it is a truly american food until I traveled!

  4. Wow! Peru!! That must be so exciting :)
I LOVE peanut butter. Never enough. They don’t have any there?? What a terrible shame.
Glad you are having such a good time. It’s been too long since I’ve read!
