Dana and Corey’s Wedding

Evidently, I just couldn’t stay away.  I can’t thank all of you enough for the wonderful, heart-felt and encouraging comments about my decision of quitting the blog.  Every word and email I got from all you awesome people has helped me realize the good things about the blog when so many bad things are happening in the background.  I simply couldn’t do the blog without all of you.  On a lighter note, I will have some exciting news to share with you all this week and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

So, I wanted to share the excitement of my weekend as one of my good friends from college got married yesterday!  Her ceremony was simple and short and the party was ready to get started the second we walked into the reception area!

It was a fun night for sure and totally a different feeling to see one of my best friends get married. I’ve known Dana since I started college in 2003 and have gone on many trips and adventures with that girl over the years.  And of course I’ve gotten to know her husband Corey over the years too and he is just the perfect fit for her.  They are so much fun to hang out with and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the two of them.

(circa 2003)

The ceremony was held outside in a courtyard type area just outside where the reception was going to be held.

I swear the whole thing took less than ten minutes and thank goodness because it was getting windy and chilly outside!  We quickly headed inside for a cocktail type time where we took our silly pictures and had a few drinks before heading into the reception area.

They started off with a few speeches and then moved onto food where I was fortunate enough to have Dana look out for me and make sure that I got a nice vegan meal for dinner.  It was a bulgar dish with a variety of vegetables and super super spicy!  My mouth was on fire!  But delicious none the less!

They did the traditional first dance, along with the father-daughter dance and the tune they picked was just perfect (although I can’t remember it off the top of my head right now. Too tired).

There were also lots of other photos taken throughout the night and of course lots of dancing at the end…oh the dancing.  Haha, some of those parents were wild!!  So fun(ny)!!!

Congratulations to you both Dana and Corey. I can’t wait to see where time takes the two of you and hope to spend some of those great moments together!!! I love you both!

I saw your last blog but didn’t get a chance to respond- I was glad to see your post today though because I love hearing from you and reading about your life and will certainly miss it if you hang the blogging up. Just remember, it’s your blog and you can blog as little or as much as you’d like, and about whatever you’d like. Don’t just look for external motivators with it- it should be about you and what you want to do (including if you want to quit the blog but feel pressured to by us).

Looks like such a beautiful wedding! I love the pics of you guys in college and the ones now- so awesome that you’ve stayed in touch and are now going to weddings and stuff. College friends are the best. Congrats to Dana & Corey!

I am just now catching up on my blog reading and want to say how happy I am that you will still be blogging! I really enjoy reading ALL of your posts.

I am fortunate enough never to have struggled with the hell of an ED myself, but I still get a lot out of your Side Notes. They help me to better understand my friends with EDs, and I can’t thank you enough for that. They also help me keep my extra few lbs in perspective–there are far worse things to happen than having a little bit of a tummy. Again, thank you for the reminder to count my numerous blessings. I also like the bird posts even though I’m not a birder. It’s fun to look at pics of pretty biddies and learn a bit about them! ;-)

You look SO FANTASTIC in the wedding pics!! The dress is lovely, and the happiness in your face is even more beautiful. I can’t wait to hear your good news. I’m sure it’s wonderful, and I hope that this year hold all sorts of happiness and good things, both personal and professional, for you.

  3. AHHHHH!! How amazing do you look in that dress? It is so perfect for you, Melissa! Whit looks very handsome, and you both look so happy. :) The wedding sounds beautiful and fun. I’m so glad to hear you had such a great time! That vegan meal sounds fantastic – I love spicy food so I would have been all over it, too. Congrats to Dana and Corey!!

  4. Love the dress! Glad you had a great time. Keep up the great work!

I missed your previous post because I was travelling, but I just want to say that I am so happy you will continue to blog, even if it’s sporadic. I cannot believe that anyone would send you emails that birds are stupid (what???? I hope these same people don’t read blogs showing someone’s daily oatmeal…I think our assessment of what’s ‘interesting’ online is warped) or that your job is not a real job or whatever they said. You know that I don’t feel that way, and I am sure those who are do are in the minority. I wonder if there’s a way to just attract a new audience? I know that you love the friends you’ve made through blogging, but new friends couldn’t hurt, right? :-)

You look beautiful in those photos. I love the dress! Dana looked amazing as well, and I am so glad you were able to attend. It was very sad not having my friends here for my wedding!
