Don’t worry, I didn’t see one…but I saw it’s evidence.  I’ll spare you a picture of it’s err, presence, but just be forewarned if I come back hollering about a bear one of these days! That’s what happens when you work up at 8,000ft in the mountains!!

Anyhow, it was C.O.L.D. this morning!  Having oats is always what I want when it’s cold like that, you know, only 36* in the middle of May.  Oiy.  But, I was hesitant since the last few times I’ve had oats it has put me into debilitating pain.  I haven’t changed anything in the way I have made them: water, oats, cinnamon, apple, and plain pb, but still.  It took longer this time for the discomfort to hit, but boy did it hit hard!  I’ve finally learned my lesson…thank goodness it’s almost summer.  Well, I hope.

I had a full morning of field work and luckily the second half of my field day was done close to home, so I decided to go there and make lunch instead of eating the one I packed (boring pb and banana). I made a smoothie in a bowl with protein powder, mango, blueberries, almond breeze and topped with kashi go lean.

Then, it was up the mountain I went!  Of course I brought a few snacks!

Ok, no joke, this granola is like crack.  I can’t even describe how delicious it is.  I want to buy it in bulk, NOW.  I only have one bag…as I gave my dad the other…Yum!

I can see the entire desert and valley from where I’m at…

I’m loving the change of scenery from the desert surveys, although I must say I’m going to miss the heat.  Or maybe not come July.  haha.

I had a bit too much granola this afternoon so I wasn’t too hungry for dinner. Simple salad with meatless meatballs from TJ’s with a sandwich thin.  Oh, and two PB Cookies for dessert.

These will not last long in this apartment.  At. All.

And I was supposed go on a run with a friend this afternoon after work (12 hours long) but my friend ended up not being able to go and I was thinking I was still gonna go no matter what.  But, I made the mistake of grabbing my mail, laying down with Honey to read it…then never getting back up.  Dangit.  And now my brain is on fire with negative thoughts…

Tomorrow is another day…

Seems like every blogger is hooked on munching granola right now- me included!

The oats thing doesn't sound so good… maybe you should get it checked out…?

& shoot down those negative thoughts! You haven't seen your cat so much recently, so some one-on-one lounging was definitely needed :) x

  2. Jasmine says:

I definitely agree with Sara- with all of your adventures recently you definitely deserve some down time with your kitty.
And not only is tomorrow another day, but so is the next and the next, you'll have plenty of time to fit in a run when it is what you actually want to do!

  3. brandi says:

goodness, it's so pretty! but I would definitely be scared to be anywhere NEAR a bear :)

  4. Krista says:

I can't believe it's still so cold where you are! Yikes!

  5. Leelu says:

You so have no reason to feel guilty! After a work day like yours the last thing I would feel like is a long run – besides exercise should be something you FEEL like doing, not something you feel like you HAVE to do. You totally deserved some down time – so please don't feel bad!!

  6. Christine (The Raw Project) says:

Ugh, so sorry I've been away from your blog, I've missed it! Not thrilled with my crazy schedule the last few weeks. Great eats and pics! Can't blame you for skipping the run after a long day of work, sometimes we have to listen to our bodies. :-)

  7. Kaitlin With Honey says:

Don't let yourself have negative thoughts — it's just a run, and you've been doing nonstop!

In other news, I can't believe you went from Hawaii to snow. Crazy.

  8. sophia says:

A break = more energy to play and have a more productive run the next time. That's the way I see it, anyway. Besides, I think your dear kitty appreciate it a lot. :-)

  9. Katherine says:

Hey, I have been following your blog, and I am getting my blog up and going. Added you to my blogroll :)

  10. Katherine says:

O, and lounge with that cat as much as you want :)
