Field again. Oh man did I not want to come to work. I mean, after rereading my visit to the Haraguchi Taro Farm and Rice Mill on Kauai I was not excited when weather.com told me the high in my town was only 38. THERE IS ICE ON THE MOUNTAIN!!!! GAHHHH!!!!
Anyhow, Whit and I had to leave my parents at an ungodly hour to beat the Los Angeles rush hour traffic so I had breakfast on the way, including an apple the size of my head and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar.
As soon as I got home I said hi to Honey and then had to leave very very soon after for work. I had a serious amount of coffee while driving home which left me on a huge high the rest of the day. Oh man was I on a caffeine high!
Late morning I had a snack I brought back from Kauai: dehydrated bananas with cinnamon! Goodness these are tasty treats.
Pictured are two pieces that are about 1/2 a banana, and well, no one eats just half a banana so I had two more pieces! They are so good and I love how chewy they are! I now wish I had a dehydrator because I can never find these in stores and only dried bananas, which I hate. Ick.
A few hours later still in the field I ate the small lunch I packed at my parents the night before with leftovers from Mother’s Day dinner, consisting of a hummus, tomato and lettuce sandwich.
I knew that wasn’t going to be enough so I added in a cap full of dry roasted peanuts which apparently, aren’t just peanuts roasted in an oven but they’ve added things in like sugar and malta-blah blah blah…I mean really? Can we not just roast peanuts with a little bit of salt anymore?
Ok, rant over. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. I got home mid afternoon and was starting to get hungry again, so I snacked on another apple and a small bowl of honey nut cheerios, all before getting in a run…to get rid of the caffeine. Oh man I was still wired! Alas, I hit the gym and since I didn’t get my long run in this weekend of 14 miles and only did 7, I ran 6 today with a bit of speed work thrown in there intermittently.
Too much time had passed so as soon as I finished, I hit up the grocery store since there is nothing in my apartment and made the quickest dinner possible! Two kinds of toast (leftover pieces) with two eggs, bell pepper, onion, spinach and tomato slices!
Totally hit the spot. Of course I had to have dessert…even after the menagerie of things I had at my parents last night…lets just kinda forget about that and move on for my own sanity…alas, soy ice cream and some chocolate attune granola munch! I love this stuff…
What? You don’t take pictures of your dessert on top of your salad containers? Hahaha! I know of you course you do…(cough cough)
Now I’m off to snuggle with my kitty because I left her for 9 days! I’ll have Kauai recaps coming soon…work this week is going to be mad so I apologize now. But before I go…Happy Birthday to one of my best blogger friends ever: Jenn!
