Others in Kauai

[Ah, my vacation is almost over.  It’s been such a relaxing week that I don’t want to go home!  Ok, I do miss my little kitty though.  Her attitude always keeps me in check. :)  Anyhow, Since I’ve been horrible at recaping while I’m gone, I thought you’d like to experience another bloggers view of Kauai and other surrounding islands!  Love you Amanda and Andy! ]

Hi Trying to Heal readers!

I’m a big fan of Melissa. She’s one of my favorite bloggers to hang out with! I’m so excited for her to go to Kauai. It’s one of my favorite places on Earth. My husband Andy and I went to Kauai for our one year anniversary but we’ve been to some of the other islands too!

One of my favorite things to do while travelling is trying local food. I always love trying new things and experiencing other cultures. Even though Hawaii is part of the U.S., it feels vastly different than the suburbs of California. Trying out new foods is even better when you’ve been outside exploring all day. I highly suggest getting outside, visiting local landmarks, walking as much as possible and exploring the closest beach. We got these delicious banana macadamia nut pancakes on our a trip to the islands after an early morning hike to see Haleakala Crater on Maui.

Andy and I did a lot of snorkeling over our last trip. The highlight of our snorkeling trip, was seeing a sea turtle in its natural habitat. The turtle came out from underneath a collection of coral reef. He was huge and incredibly graceful in the water. We just floated above him for awhile. It was the best!

Before we went to Oahu, Maui or Kauai we researched online about what kind of outdoor activities to do. We rented bikes in Kauai and rode around Kapaa in the rain. It’s a great way to see a new city/town while getting some exercise in. We researched hiking trails, boating, snorkeling and surfing too! There is no excuse not to be outdoors in a place as gorgeous as Hawaii.

Definitely bring an adventurous friend with you on your trip and you’ll have a blast!

Thanks for letting us guest post Melissa! Love Amanda & Andy. Come check us out at www.twobooswhoeat.com
