Rain? I’m Hardcore; Didn’t You Know?

Oh, nothing could stop Meghann and I from doing what we set our hearts on doing this morning: BIKE RIDE!

Before we headed out into the atrocious rainy weather predicted for the day, I fueled up with a simple bowl of Heart to Heart, strawberries, USAB and a spoonful (yes, a spoonful and not a TABLESPOON) of TJ’s PB!

I checked the radar and hoped for the best before packing up the bikes and driving an hour out to the Everglades and Shark Valley for a ride out in the middle of no where!

The ride out in Shark Valley is a 15 mile loop and it was a bit of a tough one, more mentally than physically though!  The rain definitely made it harder than it needed to be but since I had great company it made the rain deterrent a little less…deterring.  Hehe!

I don’t have pictures of us on the ride, before or after, but  Meghann took a few…

We didn’t take our cameras with me because it was raining so much…and of course we can’t present our cameras to such horrid conditions!

After we finished we were famished and I tried as hard as I could to get to Robert Is Here, to get Meghann a shake she had been wanting all weekend!

Robert Is Here is famous for their fruit shakes of awesome varieties, and the fruit that happen to be in season when you get there!

We both ordered different kinds, mine being the Strawberry Key Lime Shake, hold the sugar because I wanted something more tart!

It takes a while for them to be made so we wandered around for a bit before our numbers were called out from the counter.  They have an awesome variety of fruits including some you probably have never heard of like mamey, sapote, tamarind, and sapodilla (have you ever tried these?! I want to hear about it!).

1004180002 1004180003 I was way excited when my shake was finally ready!

I love that you can see the strawberries seeds and smell the fresh key lime juice.

This baby was AMAZING!  But I restrained myself and only had half of it…I wanted to save some of it for another day for another dessert…since this thing costs $5 a pop!  And it’s a bit of a drive away…ok, it’s only about 8 miles, but you know…maybe if I ran there and back…haha.

Of course I was still hungry when I got home so I made a quick wrap to put some solid food in my system after that bike ride!  I ferociously assembled a hummus, cucumber, tomato and lettuce wrap together…along with an orange that somehow missed getting pictured.

Sadly Meghann had to leave to make the 4 hr drive back to Orlando with Maddie (her adorable puppy!) and I had a bunch of things to get done before work starts tomorrow!  I started on cleaning up my room and unpacking and had a little snack afterwards to…well, eat.

Mix together one of the best cereals on the planet (Kashi Heart to Heart) and best chocolate pretzels known to man (TJ’s Dark Chocolate Covered Mini Pretzels) and you have the most decadent snack ever created.

Ok, I probably have exaggerated a bit but it was definitely tasty.  Dessert number two for the day!

Not enough protein in that snack…and it made my chocolate sweet tooth rage so I had a nice handful of my TJ’s Dark Chocolate Edamame…oh how I have a love/hate (because I eat too much of you) relationship with this crack stuff!

We went out grocery shopping and I only got produce since I have exactly two weeks until I leave!  Yikes!  How time is flying!  I am already starting to miss Florida and I haven’t even left yet!

I wanted a simple and vegetable filled dinner so I stuck to some leftovers, freshly baked breads via my roommate and recently purchased goods!  I started off with a fresh ear of corn with a bit of sea salt and a piece of rosemary foccacia still warm from the oven…

And a gigantic salad with spinach, carrot, cucumber, tomato, artichoke, bell pepper and cooked chickpeas in marinara sauce.  Of course I cleaned the plate with the bread!  1004180024

Now I’m trying to catch up on blogs and need to fold my laundry!  It was a long weekend and I’m exhausted!  I can’t wait to get some sleep!

Ooh, yum that rosemary focacia bread sounds awesome! I love Robert is Here! I have tried all of those tropical fruits you listed and I love them all. Mamey is especially delicious, and I think they have mamey flavored ice cream or sherbet at Publix. I used to buy it in my non vegan days! Great to see that a little rain didn't keep you guys from having a great bike ride. :)

  8. Mama Pea says:

I love bike rides! And if its warm enough I think they're fun in the rain, too.

That shake looks out of this world thick and delish! I've never heard of any of those fruits. Strange names though, eh??

  12. peanutbutterfingers says:

Mmmmmm….Robert Is Here…although I find it hard to pay $5 for those shakes!

Tamarind…you had it in that brown condiment at House of India the other night. Definitely with something added to make it sweet. The fruit is seriously tart and sweet at the same time, and kind of pasty. We used to pick them all the time as a kid.

I am not a mamay fan.

Looooveeee sapodilla! It has a zillion names down here depending on who you are talking to and where they are from. And I am quite sure sapote is just another kind of sapodilla or sapodilla is another kind of sapote!

    And there you go!

I only bought produce at Publix today too! Gotta try to use up all of those pantry staples I have so I don't have to pack them!
