Wow, the past two days have been an absolute frenzy of activity! Can you believe I had not just one, but TWO BLOGGER MEETUPS in the past 24 hours?! Madness I tell you…but boy do I have one very happy tummy?
Lets start with last night shall we?
Jessie informed a few of us Miami “Healthy Living Bloggers” of a meetup that was going to happen with Ted Rubin from OpenSky. I opted to do the driving coming all the way from the South and so it would be easier to carpool, and picked up Jessie, Meredith and Amanda on the way to Monty’s in South Beach.
The meetup was very informal, at a bar, and Ted talked to us about the concept of OpenSky and what it would be able to do to for us and other consumers. Long story short, it sounds like a good idea…if you’ve got a background in sales. Sorry, but that’s not for me. And as much as I think it’s a cool concept, I really don’t think I have time for it…but, if you do want to learn more about it you can email Ted or Tweet him to ask him any question you need about the shops they have!
Anyhow, after listening to the speal I dropped off Amanda and Jessie, Meredith and I headed to WF for some dinner! I ended up mixing together the black bean soup and some chunky vegetable barley one to take down the spiciness of the bean soup. On the side I had a whole wheat roll from the bakery. I kept it light since it was pretty late, but filling because I had a 10 miler to do in the morning!
Man am I going to miss these girls!
I shot home as quick as I could after dropping them off to try and get some sleep before having to wake up at 6am to get in a 10 miler before meeting up with Meghann for brunch with her brother!!!
It was a hard night of sleep, or one basically lacking one, so when the alarm went off at 6 I was not a happy camper. But you know I still rolled out of bed, blindly chowed on a Chewy Odwalla bar, jumped into my running clothes and headed out the door.
I decided to do my normal 8.6 mile loop, but I added in another street to extend it to 9.6 and added in the rest of the neighborhood I live in to hit 10 miles! I ran it in just over 1.30 so I was quite happy! It’s been a while since I’ve run over my 8.6 miles!
I quickly cleaned up and drove as fast and madly as I could up to South Beach to meet Meghann and her twin brother for brunch at a nice place called the Front Porch Cafe. I didn’t eat anything after leaving from home so I was ravenous by the time I got my food. You can bet I ate every single bite of my California Omelette with 3 eggs, veggies and avocado…
After chatting a bit and saying our goodbyes, Meghann and I were lazy and lounged with some awesome conversation on the beach…and even thought it was cloudy you can bet we still got burnt. Uh huh…I’m getting dark!
Soon after we headed over to Lincoln Road to do a bit of shopping and walking…but of course Meghann spotted this and had to get a bite!
Do you see this pretzel?
SO.FREAK’N.AMAZING. I loved that there were huge seeds on the outside and there was just enough salt to float my boat (not like most other soft pretzels that are so loaded with salt I want to puke!)
And of course I hit up Ghirardelli for my free chocolate sample!
Yeah Dad, be jealous. I had your favorite chocolate w/o you.
We did a bit more walking, shopping and went to the cutest and coolest market with lots of international products I would love to try one day…too bad I’m leaving in two weeks. Boohizzle.
We ended up back at Meghann’s brother’s place and cleaned up, took a nap (well, I did; in the computer chair) and then were close enough to walk to dinner and have another blogger meetup!
Jessie suggested House of India in Coral Gables for dinner because she’d been there before, and we were all more than happy to oblige.
The menu was pretty big and the place was cute and quiet. The service was good in the beginning but by the end I had to walk my paycheck up to the front to get it processed. But that’s besides the point.
I ordered the Mushroom Do Pyaj and was pleasantly pleased with my meal!
But before that got out, we tried this flat crisp bread stuff with three different kinds of chutneys. I tried only two because I don’t like sweet ones, but the two I did try were great!
I had this, times two.
I had the Mushroom dish as my main course, but also sampled some of Meghann’s Veggie in Cream sauce with nuts and Meredith’s Eggplant Bharta. Everything was really really good…and I left absolutely stuffed!
All together now…and with a piece of Cauliflower Stuffed Na’an…that left my face/nose/throat on FIRE!
It was great to see my Miami girls one more time before I leave, along with Meghann because she lives so far away! I can’t believe I’m leaving her again for my job…gosh, long distance friendships! But I’m sure this won’t be the last of seeing use together…no way no how. I mean, she’s going to San Fran in a few weeks…so she’ll be in CA periodically.
Ok, I am absolutely pooped! Bed time, and then hopefully it won’t be raining tomorrow morning so I can take Megs out to Shark Valley for a nice 15 mile bike ride!!!
