Recovery from my eating disorder has been a long and ongoing process, but it’s definitely something I know will be able to overcome when the time comes.

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week and I cannot tell you how important it is to me to help bring awareness to everyone, young or old, female or male, about how dangerous eating disorders can be.  According to NEDA:

“Our aim of NEDAwareness Week is to ultimately prevent eating disorders and body image issues while reducing the stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment. Eating disorders are serious, life-threatening illnesses — not choices — and it’s important to recognize the pressures, attitudes and behaviors that shape the disorder.”

I’ll be talking about Eating Disorders throughout the week in different ways and I hope you will join me in spreading the awareness!

Anyhow, I really liked what Caitlin asked of her readers today on her blog:

List 10 Awesome Things About Yourself!

1. I’m determined in everything I do.
2. I never, well, try to never think “I can’t”.
3. I’m organized.
4. I’m good as saving money.
5. I am opening up to new people and experiences.
6. I’m a good baker/dessert maker.
7. I enjoy educating people about what I love when they want to hear about it.
8. I’m a great sister to my younger twin brothers.
9. I am taking time and effort to take better care of my body.
10. I do the simple things that make people happy: like putting dishes away from the dishwasher.

Are you interested in my meals from this weekend?  Some are regulars, some are new!  Probably not all around interesting…but tasty!

Oh, look at the giveaway I won!!!  Miss Lindsay from Learning to Cook, Eat and Enjoy Delicious Food sent me an awesome package full of my favorite bars and a cute heart bowl!!!

You know you’ll be seeing those soon!

So yesterday at lunch I was craving a wrap, with lots of hummus.

LOTS of hummus.  Along with a totally not ripe enough mango and a carrot.

I’m more excited about my dinner from last night though! I was seriously looking forward to it all day.

  • 3 bean mix (pinto, black and kidney) in marinara sauce
  • Italian roasted veggies (zucchini, mushroom, onion, asparagus, broccoli)
  • Bulgar wheat

I might have died and went to dinner heaven.  Too bad bulgar doesn’t hold me over very long like rice or bread does.  What is up with my body and carbs?  Only certain ones keep me full? Eep.  What keeps you full the most?  I need help finding filling foods!!!

We had plans this morning for nice bike ride out in the Everglades so I knew I was going to need a filling and of course yummy breakfast: Banana Cinnamon Peanut Butter Oatmeal.

We headed out to Shark Valley to hit up the 15 mile trail there.  It’s usually full of tourists, but we got there and finished just before everything started to get crowded.

Oh yeah, and gawk fest, (please don’t think I’m crazy, I swear I did this for the blog!) we saw a guy that looked EXACTLY LIKE ORLANDO BLOOM.  No joke…it totally could have been him, if he weren’t so short…I might have taken a picture of him…in the green.  Eep.

That 15 miler on the bike did over my appetite! I was famished when I got home and dug into my lunch.  I toasted some whole wheat bread w/ hummus, topped with tomatoes and leftover roasted veggies, with a side of two carrots and some fruit on the side.

And for my afternoon snack before doing my Core Fusion DVD I had a Chocolate Pumpkin Muffin!  I also had some roasted cashews…and an apple.

After working out to the DVD (holy cracker I’m going to be soar, just like last time) and messing with the shower drain that won’t drain and unclog after copious amounts of dran-o, I started on din din!!

Flat out pizza!!!

I topped mine with marinara, a veggie burger mixed with the small amount of beans leftover from yesterday, veggies and some sharp cheddar cheese…Sooooo good.

Sorry for the long epic post!  It’s been a weekend…

Hope you all had an awesome weekend!  Tell me about it!  Or, I’m sure I’ll read about it on your blog…hehe!

i think the right ratio of carbs and protein keeps me full, but like you, only certain carbs will do it. i haven't figured it all out yet, though, because my hunger is very fickle! i'll have the same meal for multiple days, but they will hold me over for different amounts of time!
