Prep Time

I love field work.

I mean, even when it’s pretty cold, and you have a wind chill factor of 15-20 degrees…I still love what I do!

Everyone else here does too.  Makes for some very very fun times!

Last night was eventful, not so much for me, but for everyone else in the house since they hit up the country club for happy hour again…I wasn’t too comfortable with the men who were there last time and opted out of this weeks adventure.  So instead, I stayed home and made some more (of my modified version) Super Charge Me Cookies and Blueberry Chocolate Chip Muffins.  So be ready for those making an appearance on the blog this week!  All I’ve got next to bake is some granola!  I did create some with a few homemade granola bars which had started to fall apart, but have yet to use it in my yogurt.

Anyhow, I awoke up this early ready to try out another run today.

IT.WAS.PURE.TORTURE.

Not because I was in pain, but I just wasn’t mentally there, it was cold and freak’n crazy windy.  Both Brit and I, in our heads were ready to give up and felt like we were holding each other back, but in reality were both on the same track!  It was quite funny.

Anyhow, we accomplished four miles and during mile three, I might have yelled some obscenities because I just wanted to be done.  Every muscle in my body was tight, I had a headache, I was thirsty, I was hungry and I wanted it to be OVER.  Gosh, I take like two weeks off and this happens?!  Boo.

Anyhow…I showered and warmed up and devoured my awesome breakfast!  I’ve been having oats the past week since it’s been colder, and in addition, to fight against some of the issues I discussed in my last post (The Deep End) I’ve been adding an extra 1/2 tablespoon on peanut butter on top of the 1 tablespoon I normally use.

I’ve been making a well in the middle after I add in the blueberries and bananas and let everything get all melty, then I devour!  It’s so tasty making the well and never knowing when you’re going to get a big gob of peanut butter…my mouth was having a hard time chewing everything!

I’ve been watching Obsession with Ali Larter and Beyonce all morning…talk about drama!  Eventually I got hungry for lunch.

I bought some new crackers at WF the other week when they had a coupon for buy a box of cookies get some crackers free!  I couldn’t pass that up!  2 for 1 baby!

I layered these up with some marinara, Cabot sharp cheddar cheese, bell peppers and onions…toasted and presto!

I bet it would have been even better had the vegetables been cooked a little more.  The toasting didn’t do too much to them, but it tasted good overall!  I had an apple on the side for my mandatory-every-meal-fruit-consumption.

And for dessert I had one of the Blueberry Chocolate Chip Muffins I made last night.

I swear it might look like a lot of chocolate chips, but there are blueberries in there.  I promise.  Though I was excited there was so much chocolate in this one.  Yum!

Now I’m off to get ingredients for my sushi-tutorial tonight!  I’ve had such a blast teaching it to other bloggers that I wanted to share how easy it is for everyone to do it! I just need to find an Asian market for some cheaper nori!  I don’t want to pay $5 for a pack at WF!!!

ah! I love reading about your work- so fabulous that you love what you do. That little froggy is so freaking tiny! Amazing. Isn't it funny how much runs can vary? Can you made it through. Cute field pics! I hate running in the wind, it feels like one step forward, four backwards. Cant wait to see your sushi tutorial, I am probably going to make it for the first time Sunday!

What a great idea to use crackers as the base for little pizza's!!

Sorry to hear your run sucked. There's nothing more crappy than working out when your head isn't in the game.

I love pics from your job! I think it's very cool what you do and I'm jealous that you found something that you love to do – I'm still searching…
Boo to the tough run. I wish all days were perfect weather and fresh legs!

PK Oriental Market on Sunset Drive (72nd street) and 95th avenue is a nice one….otherwise in your neck of the woods is a hole in the wall that is packed from ceiling to floor…I think it is about 170th street and US1.

Either should have everything you need…cheaper than WF.

My son and I may have to sign up for one of your tutorials! LOL!!!
