Oh boy am I excited, but so nervous I could barf like, right now. I get the most horrible race anxiety you will ever see/hear about. I feel urpy before the race, during and hah, even afterwards. Go figure, right?
Anyhow, I left at the time I had anticipated this morning, just after 7am and headed out to Houston to drop off my bike at Russell and Amanda’s house (with them holding it for ransom so I have to come back and visit!) and then head off to SAN ANTONIO!!!
I got to the hotel just before noon and luckily was able to check in and get to the room. I changed into shorts from my jeans and headed out to the Alamodome to pick up my race packet! I had originally signed up with my anticipated finish time at 2:10 but over time I have gotten quicker, and due to some aide from friends, signed up to change my corral to one even faster than 2 hrs, or I would be dodging everyone for the first mile of the race.
The expo was pretty cool! I totally got the hookup by asking product CEO’s that were there about being promoted on the blog and totally got free stuff from them. Awesome!
But the Alamodome was pretty big…
Free stuff from these guys:
And everyone’s favorite except for me:
I tried this Honey Milk and bleck. Totally didn’t like. You can check it out with you want to though: www.athletesmilk.com/
I got the hook up with this company, PureFit, and from the taste of the Berry Almond Crunch that I tried, I think they’re going to be great! From what I heard about them from one of the sponsors and the CEO, these bars are really great! I mean, how could you go wrong with:
- 100% Natural Ingredients
- 18 grams of Soy Protein
- No Hydrogenated Oils
- Vegan
- Wheat and Gluten Free
- No Sugar Alcohols or Artificial Sweeteners (biggie for me as my stomach gets easily upset by these!) and more!
Check out their site!
I also asked if I could get some samples (from the people that make Accelerade) of the new Forze GPS bars being sampled out. I tried the Cranberry Nut flavor and really liked that one! I hope the other two that I got samples of taste just as great!
And of course I couldn’t leave without getting a juice sample from my favorite bar company: ODWALLA!! I tried the Mango Tango…I so want this after my race tomorrow!
I headed home after the Expo and walked along the Riverwalk for a while before going to the airport and picking up my dad!
But look at all the swag I came home with!!!
Oh yeah, and this is my room that I paid an insane amount of $$$ for. Boo!
Dad and I picked up dinner at Whole Foods and I made sure to stay away from the Chickpea Marsala that didn’t agree with Caitlin last night…instead I got the Mock Chicken Salad and had it on top of a nice veggie and spring/spinach salad with two pieces of sourdough bread. Yay for carbs!
I also had a sip of my POM Nectarine Juice sample that I got a bit back and my Dad decided to consume tonight. I liked that I could taste both flavors while drinking it, but it was def too sweet…I’ll water it down for my next tasting! I still have one more flavor to try!
Then I got everything ready for tomorrow morning!
And ended the night by walking the Riverwalk again with my dad, via the night lights!
Now I’m off to bed as I have to get up and walk to catch a shuttle tomorrow morning for my race! It’s going to be a very long morning! Recap tomorrow afterwards!!! Yay!!!
So excited (and nervous…eek!)
