First, I’ll start off with yesterday. I believe my stomach knew it wasn’t going to have an appetite yesterday, which is why i was so hungry the day before. I have a culprit, and her name is Aunt Flo, or the red devil…you get the picture.
anyhow…here’s a sum up of the eats. I’m currently using my roomie’s sister’s computer because I can’t use mine and their wireless, so no pictures. sorry!
Bfast: greek yogurt, cinnamon, cranberries, homemade maple almond granola, apple
Lunch: banana and pb; some pineapple
Snack: Smores Zbar
Dinner: two veggie tacos, each w/ two corn tortillas, guacamole and salsa.
Snack: nuts and chocolate single serving planters mix and a handful of pb filled mm’s.
My drive home absolutely sucked yesterday and what should have taken me an hour took me almost THREE!!! But I won’t whine, I got to where I needed to be in one piece, so everything is cool. I tried to get to bed relatively early last night because I needed to wake up by FIVE AM to get ready fo my race this morning!!! I had my normal banana/flax/cinnamon/cranberry/walnut oats before the race…and two big glasses of water.
Let me just say, OMG. It poured, and it poured, and it POURED. I ran, practically SWAM that entire 10k…and on top of the fact that it was so wet and I was so drenched, there were 4,000 people in that race! It was absolute MADNESS! But here’s a roundup of my thoughts during the race.
Start: “Holy crap, there area a lot of people here. I’m at the back of the line, whcih means the time on the clock when I come in will be wrong because I’m going to be starting after everyone else at the front. Remember that for when passing finish…and remember to start watch. It’s drizzling; I hope it stays that way.”
Mile 1: “Holy cracker I’m behind! I’m at 8.52 when I want to be at 8.30…must speed up a little at least and try to get out of these little clumps of slower people…it’s starting to rain harder now.”
Mile 2: “Are you freak’n kidding me?! It’s flip’n POURING and I’m being PELTED with raindrops…I really need to turn off my ipod…but where am I going to hide it to prevent it from getting wet….uh, no where. I’m betting I’m going to ruin it. It’s 18.26…need to get out of pack.”
Mile 3: “Still pouring…passing most of the pack…is the rain going to let up anytime soon? I’m currently soaked to the bone, head to toe…I’m running in a pool in my shoes…and trying to jump over rivers in the road. I’m at 26 flat now…still need to speed up.”
Mile 4: “I’m miserable and wet…but I’m halfway done and I’m going to finish this. But, I’ve given up looking at my watch because really, I don’t care what time I get, I just want to finish this blasted thin…at least the rain is letting up a little.”
Mile 5: “Freak’n A, spoke too soon. Pouring AGAIN…I can feel blister forming…Oh, and I had to run into the bathroom for about 15-20 seconds…must factor that out of time at end…”
Mile 6: “Only .2 miles to go! I can see the finish!!! SPRINT WOMAN SPRINT!!!!“
The end! I have no idea what place i got, what my “official” time was, but according to my watch it was 53.06…so subtract about 15-20 seconds for the bathroom check…
I BROKE 53 minutes!!!!!!
I’m guessing I got around 52.46-52.51…Yipppeeeeeee!!!!!
Overall, it was a good race, especially considering the weather and the number of people. I’m actaully quite proud of myself. I wonder how much rain came down during the race? hehe…
I ended up running a little before the race frantically trying to get my bib and all, and then afterwards also cause I was trying to find my roomie and my brothers…so add on about another 1.5-2 miles for the day. I’ll say I got in an even 8 today to add to my POTM challenge! Yay!
No one got any pictures of me with their cameras but I did see professional photographers so hoepfully they got one of me with those…I seriously was wet white shirt and all…booo
Alright chickadees…I’m tired, need a nap, then gots to get to cooking my vegetarian feast for me and my roomies siblings at her house!
