FYI…this will be a long post. I have two product reviews, lots of food for today, and a little story about some funness I got in the mail! So…lets get started!
I started off the day in a rush to get stuff done at work so ended up forgetting my real breakfast and had a backup quickie…Odwalla Banana Nut bar! I love this brand and all their bars; they’re always fresh tasting and hold me over for a very long time (even though there isn’t too much protein in them most of the time), normally when I pair it with a piece of fruit. So I had mine with a not-so-ripe enough mango..but it was tolerable. But just a little detail about what I thought about it:
Definitely very soft, like it says on the package! When you open it you’re welcomed with a nice whiff of banana bread like you get at home! It’s a little sweeter, but doesn’t taste like artificial banana (cause if it did, I would hate it…I hate artificial fruit tastes!). There are lots of crunchy little pieces in the bar and nice big and plump raisins to surprise you! I really like the fact that there are big chunks of walnuts in there and they’re pretty common too! Not just one or two small pieces here and there! The only thing I would suggest: More cinnamon! Because I love CINNAMON! but that’s just me….
Then off to work on the flight line around F-14 fighter jets and chinook helicopters! CRAZY!
While I was out on the flight line I had a little container (~1/4C) of my caramel/chocolate/cashew/almond trail mix…
I was famished by lunch time so I dug into my delicious yellow peach and had a mushroom burger on a ww double fiber english muffin…def hit the spot!
After a little bit more work my hunger came back so I decided to brave my other LARABAR, which I wasn’t too optimistic about after the last one I had. But I was wrong with that one! This one tasted sooo much better! It wasn’t as chocolaty as I would have liked it to be, but it was good enough anyways. I like the aspect of all the nuts and all natural ingredients, but too often than not I got a the taste of dried fruit…and nothing else…eh. But, if these are ever on sale, I might buy a few more…otherwise I think I’ll stick to my Luna bars when it comes to bars when I’m hit with the need for a chocolate fix!
Got home and was welcomed with a SHAPE magazine in the mail box…and a nice little package with my name on it at the door…SURPRISE!!! Look what I got from Honest Foods!!!! One of the reps caught my comment about trying to find the bars where I live on Winning Friends With Salad’s site…and offered to send me a package of their products to try and report on in my blog!! How exciting! So, expect to see all their (hopefully, and from what many of you have blogged) yummy products in the upcoming posts!! I’m excited for all of these!!!! Yay!
I then went down to meet my roomie at the pool and did my water workout again, like I did from yesterday. My legs are getting better, but I’m gonna give them a few more days to recover before I even THINK of running…so my race next week might be cancelled for myself . But better to be safe than sorry, right?!
Anyhow, then, went back and got changed and headed out (walking) to get sushi for dinner!!!!! I’ve been craving sushi for sooooooo long…I was literally dying to have it tonight!!
So I decided to start off w/ some edamame (i ate half, roomie at the other half) then ate a Seaweed salad (i was inspired to try it after seeing Gliding Calm have it with her mom the other day when they went out for japanese food!) . I didn’t like the purple seaweed on the top, but the green underneath was yummy! There was also a nice yummy mound of pickled japanese cucumbers underneath that I totally dug into because I LOVE those cucumbers….O.M.G. So good. So I ate all of that…
Then I ordered my normal veggie roll and a cucumber roll for the rolls. The veggie one had avocado, carrots, cucumber, broccoli and ginger in it. I took the ginger out because I HATE ginger, but had everything else in it, with low sodium soy sauce to dip it in. and the roll was interesting w/ the broccoli…that was definitly a first! But everything was good, so I enjoyed it!
After that we walked around the strip in OB and went into some shops to look at clothes and stuff…but found nothing. Then we went into a small chocolate store and decided our sweet tooths were calling….my roomie got a chunk of rocky road bark, and I got a dark chocolate covered graham cracker…my favorite! I used to have these, and dark chocolate pretzels, at my old work all the time….nice way to end the night!
Now I’m off to shower, clean up a little, make lunch for tomorrow and get to bed! I’m so tired from all the field work in the sun today and the workout and walk! Whew!
